Description
An investor visa in Ajman, often called a partner visa, is a UAE residence visa for a shareholder or manager of a company licensed by Ajman Free Zone (AFZ). It lets you live in the UAE and run your own AFZ company. The visa is linked to your company: it can be renewed while the company, its licence and its Establishment Card stay valid, and it must be cancelled if the company closes.
People often search for a UAE investor visa as if it were one product. In practice it is processed by the authority that licenses your company. For an Ajman Free Zone company, AFZ handles the visa on its own portal, working with ICP, the federal immigration authority. You can apply only if your company has a free visa slot. If you are outside the UAE, AFZ issues an entry permit, you enter the UAE, then complete a medical fitness test at an approved centre in Ajman and give Emirates ID biometrics before the residence is issued. If you are already in the UAE on a visit visa, AFZ allows a status change without leaving the country. If you already hold another UAE residence, it has to be cancelled or transferred first. New shareholders also need a security approval, and every applicant needs valid health insurance. Residence is now issued electronically and your Emirates ID is the proof of residence; there is no sticker in your passport.
AFZ publishes target times for each step, but the total time depends on your security approval, medical results, biometrics appointment and ICP processing. Validity of the visa is set by AFZ and ICP; we confirm the current period for your case before you apply.

Is the Ajman Free Zone investor visa the same as a UAE investor visa?

Do I need to leave the UAE to get it, and will I get a passport sticker?
Not always. If you are on a visit visa, AFZ allows a status change inside the UAE. If you already hold a residence visa, that visa must be cancelled or transferred first. There is no passport sticker: UAE residence is electronic and your Emirates ID is the proof of residence.
Can I sponsor my family on this visa?
Yes, if you meet ICP's rules: a monthly income of at least AED 4,000, or AED 3,000 plus housing, suitable accommodation and health insurance for each family member. Family visas cannot be valid longer than yours.
Can I work for another company on an investor visa?
Not automatically. The visa is for running your own AFZ company. Working for another employer needs a separate work permit from that employer's authority.
What happens if I close the company?
The investor visa must be cancelled before the company is closed. After cancellation you get a grace period to change status or leave; AFZ's FAQ mentions 30 days, but this varies by category, so we confirm it at the time.
