Description

The Dubai instant license is a mainland trade licence issued by the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) online through the Invest in Dubai platform, typically within minutes. What makes it different from a standard mainland licence is what you can postpone: for the first 12 months you don't need an Ejari-registered office lease or a notarised Memorandum of Association. That lets you start trading, invoicing and building a track record before committing to an office.

**Who it suits.** Consultants, agencies, IT and marketing businesses, traders of everyday goods and other founders whose activity doesn't need approval from another authority. If your activity does need one (healthcare, food, real estate brokerage, education, financial services and similar), the instant licence isn't available and you follow the standard Dubai mainland company formation route. It is also not the best fit if you need a warehouse, a shopfront or a lot of staff visas from day one.

**What you get.** A DET mainland licence of the same kind DET issues through the standard route, in one of the eligible legal forms (sole establishment and LLC are among them). **Instant Licence and Bashr are not the same thing.** Bashr is a federal platform run by the UAE Ministry of Economy that links licensing authorities across the emirates to register a business online in about 15 minutes. The Instant Licence is DET's own Dubai service. Both are quick; which one applies depends on your emirate and your activity, and we'll tell you which route your activity can use.

**Year two: plan for it now.** The deferral is not an exemption. At the first trade license renewal, the company needs an Ejari-registered office and, where the legal form requires one, a notarised MOA. Without them the licence can't be renewed. **After the licence.** Most founders then need an establishment card, an investor visa and a corporate bank account. Banks and immigration may ask for an office address and lease at these steps, so we confirm what each will accept for your case before you apply.
