Description

Every Ajman trade licence must be renewed before it expires, and Ajman trade licence renewal works differently depending on who issued it: Ajman DED for mainland companies, or your free zone. While a licence is expired, the company can't use most government services, including visa and establishment card work, and late-renewal penalties start to build up.

**Ajman mainland (Ajman DED).** Trade licence renewal is done online through the Ajman DED e-services portal with UAE Pass. Before DED will renew, you need a valid lease contract for your premises, attested in Ajman through Tasdeeq (Ajman's system; Ejari is Dubai's), and renewed approvals from any other authority that regulates your activity. The renewal also covers your commercial register entry and Ajman Chamber of Commerce membership. DED can renew a licence for more than one year at a time, which saves repeating the process every year.

**Ajman free zones.** In Ajman Free Zone, renewal is a service request on the AFZ customer portal, and the renewed licence is issued as a PDF. AFZ asks for a company financial report with the renewal. Some activities need extra documents, such as a civil defence certificate for warehouses. Your facility lease is renewed alongside the licence. Ajman Media City Free Zone and Ajman NuVentures Centre Free Zone have their own portals and rules, and we handle those too. **If you're late.** Ajman DED charges a penalty if a licence isn't renewed within one month of expiry, then a further charge for each month of delay. Part of a month counts as a full month. AFZ gives a one-month grace period after expiry. In both cases the safest plan is to start a month or more before the expiry date.

**What is renewed separately.** Your establishment card, e-channel registration and staff visas, including any Ajman employment visas, have their own expiry dates and aren't renewed automatically with the licence. We track them together so nothing lapses. If you need to change activities, partners or your trade name, we can file a trade license amendment at the same time.

**If you've stopped trading.** On the mainland, a licence can be frozen instead of left to expire. The business must stop operating and cancel staff visas first, and the minimum freeze period is three years. If you won't trade again, a proper trade licence cancellation stops renewal penalties from building up.

How does trade licence renewal work in Ajman?

Mainland licences are renewed online with Ajman DED through UAE Pass, once your Tasdeeq-attested lease and any external approvals are in place. Free zone licences are renewed through your free zone's portal; in AFZ that's a service request with a company financial report. The renewed licence is issued electronically.

When should I renew my Ajman trade licence?

Can I renew for more than one year?

Yes, on the mainland. Ajman DED renews licences for multiple years; its portal currently says up to four years. Free zones set their own terms; ask us what's available for yours.

Do I need audited accounts to renew?

AFZ asks for a company financial report with the renewal, and other Ajman free zones may ask for audited accounts. If your company is a Qualifying Free Zone Person for corporate tax, it must keep audited financial statements anyway.

How long does renewal take?

The government renewal itself is fast once everything is ready: DED's e-service is same-day, and AFZ lists one day. Most of the time goes on lease attestation, approvals and audits, which is why we start early.

Can I change my activity or partners at renewal?

Yes. Amendments are a separate application, but we can file them together with your renewal.

I've stopped trading. Do I still have to renew?

If you don't renew, penalties keep adding up. On the mainland you can freeze the licence instead (minimum three years, after cancelling staff visas), or cancel the licence properly. Talk to us before the expiry date.
